The Colombo Veterinary Clinic was established in 2000 building on the most modern concepts in veterinary medicine. A team of veterinary doctors with a wide range of specialisations, a secretary and various external partners guarantee complete professionalism and dedication 24/7, 360 days a year.

The medical team is kept up-to-date with new scientific developments and makes use of modern equipment such as blood analysis machines (haematological, biochemical, haemogasanalysis, coagulation), digital radiology, ultrasound, echocardiography, electrocardiogram, Doppler, intraoperative microscope, gas anaesthesia, intensive monitoring, digestive endoscopy, bronchoscopy, arthroscopy and everything necessary for the management and monitoring of even the most complicated cases.

SKILL AND PROFESSIONALISM

Each of the doctors at the Colombo Clinic is preferably dedicated to a specific area of medicine and surgery to guarantee the appropriate expertise for each clinical case. For this reason, we prefer non-emergency cases to be arranged by appointment.

Each doctor guarantees skill and professionalism in the handling of primary and emergency medicine cases.

This is our team:
  • Dr Francesca Rizzo (Lu n°182): medical director and founder of the Colombo Veterinary Clinic. She specialises in internal medicine with a particular interest in gastroenterology and haematology. Specialised in clinical and animal pathology at the University of Pisa, Residency in internal medicine at the University of Bristol (UK), author of various publications in international journals
  • Dr Claudia Petrone (Ms no. 094): head of area; works in internal medicine, cardiology and ultrasound. Speaker and instructor at various ultrasound courses, long experience in the management of complex medical cases and critical patients
  • Dr Cecilia Benetti (Li no. 256): head of area; deals with soft tissue surgery, medical (chemotherapy) and surgical oncology, reconstructive surgery; cytology. PhD in emergency medicine at the University of Pisa
  • Dr Consuelo Ballatori (Pi no. 559): head of area; neurology and clinical orthopaedics, traumatology, orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery and soft tissue surgery. PhD in veterinary medicine with orthopaedic specialisation from the University of Pisa. FSA-authorised to perform official radiographs for checking elbow, hip and knee dysplasias
  • Dr. Alessandra Cucco (Lu no. 230): anaesthesiology and emergency medicine; dermatology; transfusion medicine. Long experience in the management of critical patients and complex anaesthesia
  • Dr Linda Mecattini (Lu no. 395): soft tissue surgery, endoscopy - GPCert qualification (SAST) - General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery; Master's degree in oncology from the University of Pisa 
  • Dr Debora Dini (Lu no. 322): internal medicine, ultrasound, radiology, nutrition, emergency medicine - ESVPS GPCert (DI) qualification - European School of Postgraduate Studies General Practitioner Certificate Diagnostic Imaging

COLOMBO VETERINARY CLINIC AND SIUA (SCHOOL OF HUMAN-ANIMAL INTERACTION) FOR THE PSYCHOPHYSICAL WELL-BEING OF OUR COMPANIONS

The Colombo Veterinary Clinic is the first clinic in Italy to have taken part in the 'Zooanthropology in the Clinic' project. The project involves the training of medical staff by experienced professionals in the behavioural field, Dr Katia Galbiati, veterinary behaviourist and Ms Ilaria Martinelli SIUA dog educator. The aim is to acquire a correct understanding and management of the interaction with our patients during all phases of the relationship with the veterinarian (visit, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, hospitalisation). Skilled management for the not only physical but also mental health of our patients.

STUDENT INTERNSHIP

The Colombo Clinic is an officially recognised facility by the University of Pisa for curricular training of students and recent graduates.

OPTIONAL INSTALMENTS

Through COFIDIS, we offer simple instalments of up to 12 monthly instalments with variable costs and no extra fees. Ask for information!

INJURED STRAY ANIMALS

The rescue of stray animals throughout Versilia must be guaranteed by law by the district dog pound of the 7 municipalities of Versilia. Operators are available 24 hours a day all year round by calling +39 333-2776591 (from 12.30 to 15.00 and from 19.00 to 8.30) and +39 329-4078324 (from 8.30 to 12.30 and from 15.00 to 19.00).

It will be up to the operators to transport injured animals to affiliated facilities for appropriate rescue.
